UAE EOSB Savings Scheme: Mandatory Rollout Expected After February 2026 Consultation

The UAE’s end-of-service savings scheme has been voluntary since 1 November 2023 (Cabinet Resolution 96/2023), with employers contributing 5.83% of basic salary for staff under 5 years and 8.33% for staff with 5 or more years into an SCA-approved fund, while pre-enrolment gratuity is preserved. A consultation on the scheme closed in February 2026 and a mandatory rollout is expected. What it means for you: if the rollout goes mandatory, gratuity shifts from a lump sum at exit to money accumulating in a fund during employment — check whether your employer is already enrolled and keep your fund statements. Note: use 5.83%, not 5.33% — one law-firm page’s 5.33% figure was rejected against majority sources. Sources: The Accnt, NR Doshi, Al Kabban. Related: UAE hub and UAE gratuity calculator.
