Hourly Wage Calculator (Saudi Arabia)

Labor-law math in Saudi Arabia — overtime, deductions, part-time comparisons — is often stated in hourly terms, but you are paid monthly. The widely used conversion is monthly ÷ 30 = daily and monthly ÷ 240 = hourly (8 hours × 30 days). This calculator converts in both directions. Note honestly: this is a common convention, not a statutory rule.

Choose your starting point — monthly, daily, or hourly — and enter the amount in Saudi riyals. The calculator shows all three.

The ÷30 / ÷240 convention (honest labeling)

Daily wage = monthly wage ÷ 30
Hourly wage = monthly wage ÷ 240
(8 hours × 30 days)

Honest labeling: the Saudi Labor Law states formulas like overtime (Article 107) in hourly terms, but it does not fix the divisor used to get there. Dividing by 30 and 240 is a widely used convention. Some employers use actual calendar days or contract-defined hours. When money is on the line, ask your employer — in writing — which divisor they use.

Where the conversion matters

Use caseWhy the hourly rate matters
Overtime (Article 107)The statutory formula is hourly: hourly actual wage + 50% of hourly basic wage. You must convert first. See the overtime calculation page.
Pay in lieu of noticeCommonly calculated as notice days × (monthly ÷ 30). See the notice pay calculator.
Absence deductionsUnpaid absence is commonly deducted at the daily or hourly rate — the divisor determines how much each day costs you.
Part-time / extra-work comparisonsComparing a part-time offer against your current salary requires an honest hourly figure on both sides.

Example 3 — overtime context (basic vs actual)

Basic SAR 4,000 + allowances SAR 1,000 (actual SAR 5,000). Convert each separately — the overtime formula needs both:

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert my monthly salary to an hourly wage in Saudi Arabia?

The widely used convention is: daily wage = monthly wage ÷ 30, and hourly wage = monthly wage ÷ 240 (8 hours × 30 days). So a SAR 6,000 monthly wage converts to SAR 200 per day and SAR 25 per hour. This is a common convention, not a rule written in the statute — confirm how your employer applies it.

Is the ÷30 / ÷240 conversion an official Saudi rule?

No. The Saudi Labor Law states overtime and similar payments in hourly terms but does not fix the monthly-to-hourly divisor. Dividing by 30 for the daily rate and 240 for the hourly rate is a widely used convention. Your employer or contract may use a different basis, so verify before relying on the figure.

How do I convert an hourly wage back to a monthly salary?

Reverse the convention: monthly wage = hourly wage × 240, and daily wage = hourly wage × 8. For example, SAR 25 per hour converts to SAR 200 per day and SAR 6,000 per month. Use the calculator above — select the hourly-to-monthly mode and it does the math for you.

Why does the hourly conversion matter for overtime?

Article 107 states the overtime rate in hourly terms — hourly actual wage plus 50% of the hourly basic wage — so you must convert your monthly wage to an hourly rate before applying the formula. A small difference in the divisor changes every overtime hour you are paid for. See the overtime calculation page for the full formula.

Should I use basic wage or total salary for the conversion?

It depends on the purpose. Overtime under Article 107 uses both: the actual wage (basic plus fixed allowances) at 100% and the basic wage for the extra 50%. Absence deductions commonly reference the wage defined in your contract. Convert each figure separately and label which one you are using.

Does Ramadan or a 6-day work week change the hourly rate?

Possibly — the 240-hour convention assumes an 8-hour day, and actual schedules vary (Ramadan hours are commonly reduced to 6 per day). If your real schedule differs from the convention, the honest hourly figure changes too. Check your contract and confirm the basis with your employer.

Not legal advice. This page explains the widely used wage-conversion convention in plain language for information only. The ÷30/÷240 divisor is a convention, not a statutory rule — confirm the basis your employer uses with HR, HRSD (hrsd.gov.sa) or Qiwa (qiwa.sa) before relying on converted figures.
